Health Wellness Ministry

Serving God Through – Self, Church and Community

It’s that simple!  After much discussion, this mission statement was prayerfully adopted by the newly formed Health Wellness Ministry.  Just how does this mission statement become real?    Here are some of the ways:

Serving God Through Self– By maintaining one’s body, one is better able to physically serve.  Try one of the six weekly BFC Series Exercise classes, or the Trinity United Methodist Church Runner’s (and Walker’s) Club, or the Walk to Bethlehem to increase your fitness level. “Take the Challenge” - 9 5 2 1 0  – The Whole Picture of Health and adopt these five healthy habits as part of your lifestyle.

Serving God Through Church – By finding ways to be involved at church, we can serve God by helping one another.  Attend the Health Fair on Sunday, February 12, 2012 where members and friends of Trinity share their special talents as health care professionals with church members. Attend a CPR class, and learn how to use this life saving skill if ever needed. Serve on the Health Wellness Team by sharing your gifts from the health, medical, dental, nutrition, fitness or wellness professions.

Serving God Through Community – By reaching outside the walls of our church, we can serve our community and world.  Help knit or crochet a hat or scarf, or learn how to make a mat from recycled shopping bags for the homeless through our Hats for the Homeless or Mats for the Homeless projects.  Plant and tend to the Community Garden, where harvest is shared at both Trinity and the community beyond.  Pray for our Health Wellness Team as they share their health, nutrition and fitness skills outside the church in the local community and world.  See what our team did on the  Veteran’s Village - Becoming Fit Veterans project, or  consider going with our Medical Mission Team to Guatemala in October 2012. Donate blood when the Southeastern Community Blood Center returns with the blood mobile.
