This group of young adults welcomes new members all the time. They have adopted the rather tongue-in-cheek title of “Adults Before Children.” It is a very mixed group of singles, engaged-to-be-married’s, marrieds, professionals, students, etc. etc. Their emphasis is on building community through study, service, and social activities.
Trinity UMC recognizes that there is an unfortunate vacuum of intentional ministry for folks in this stage of life. Quite often, churches offer great ministry up through college, and there is great ministry for families with children, but very little focused ministry for the in-between years. Not surprisingly, it is in these in-between years that people are least connected to their faith.
Nevertheless, as you are visiting this site, it is further testimony to the fact that there is still great spiritual desire during this time of life. So, while this group has a great deal of interaction with young families and other groups in the church, you will find here some of the ways Trinity intentionally ministers to and with this generation.
Home Study & Fellowship
Every 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month, there is a small-group study hosted at the home of one of the members of this group. Typically, they start around 7:30 and a meal is provided. For more information, please contact Linzee Long at LinzeeLong@gmail.com
Service Opportunities
April 2011 – Dedication of Ms. Andrews' Home renovations
Service opportunities take this group out of the church building and have included a partnership with the Fuller Center, serving meals at the Shelter, and providing lunches to people on Easter Sunday. This group also is very active in the many other Service and Outreach Ministries of the Church.
Social Activities!!
One of the great things about this time of life is the freedom to have a great time with good friends. Past activities have included impromptu meals together, bowling, Thomasville’s Victorian Christmas, Mule Day in Calvary, GA, and gatherings at members’ homes, especially for holidays & sporting events.
All are invited to participate in this emergent group of young adults. Every 5th Tuesday a social event is scheduled in place of the usual Bible Study. Many other events are planned with invites sent by e-mail & social media. To be added to the list, please e-mail the church at trinity@tumct.org.
