Boys’ Choir of Tallahassee: The
Boys’ Choir of Tallahassee is an after school choir program for at
risk boys in the Tallahassee community. Coordinated by a Professor
of Social Work at F.S.U., this program strives to help students
maintain grades, teaching strong discipline, and requiring high
standards for all choir members. Trinity has provided strong support
to this group from its inception.
Neighborhood Health Services: Neighborhood Health
Services provides medical services to clients free of charge,
targeting the homeless and the uninsured. The clinic is staffed by
medical professionals who volunteer their time. It is located in the
old Lincoln High School facility.
Hope
Community: The Hope Community, whose facilities are
currently under construction, is a center designed to empower those
who are homeless to become self-sufficient through a comprehensive
array of services, including independent housing. The goal of the
Community is to end homelessness, one person at a time.
Florida
IMPACT: To keep members of Trinity up to date on
important social issues in our state, issues are brought to our
attention by the Florida Conference. Florida IMPACT is currently
focusing on the improvement of working conditions for the farm
worker. Trinity participates in an IMPACT telephone tree, providing
a vehicle for giving the “farm workers’ voice” to Florida leaders,
reminding and providing awareness of important current issues and
needs.
Community
Christmas Dinner: Trinity has coordinated the community
Christmas Dinner for the past fifteen years. Volunteers from
Trinity and throughout the community come together to serve dinner.
Trinity provides the food, favors, and entertainment for all people
in our community who would like to celebrate the Christmas holiday
with a caring group. It is held in Moor Hall on Christmas Day,
beginning at 12:00 noon.
The
Providence Project: A Trinity church-wide project, that provides support to the Providence neighborhood
families and children through beautification and clean-up efforts,
special community events, and other support ministries to be
determined by the Providence planning committee.
Kate
Sullivan Elementary School “Crocodilian” Project: Trinity
has had a long and successful relationship with Kate Sullivan
School. Back when the “Church with a Heart for the City” initiative
was first being talked about, Kate Sullivan School was one of the
first places suggested for a community partnership. Trinity helps
Kate Sullivan School by donating school supplies at the start of
each school year. The congregation also helps Kate Sullivan through
the reading mentoring program called Reading All-Stars. Call

Habitat
for Humanity: Habitat for Humanity builds Habitat houses
in the Tallahassee Community. Trinity works in partnership with
other area Methodist churches to build Habitat houses each year in
this vital community ministry.
Big Bend
Cares/Canopy Connections: Big Bend Cares is a non-profit
organization which provides support and services to people living
with HIV/AIDS. The mission includes fighting AIDS, compassionate
medical care and support groups for infected individuals, testing,
community health education, and risk reduction programs. Canopy
Connections, a part of Big Bend Cares, has among its goals education
of the religious community and sponsoring a monthly meal for persons
with HIV and their families/caregivers.
Refuge House:
Refuge House provides direct services to battered women, their
children, and assault survivors. Through outreach and educational
program, this organization works to eliminate the conditions in
society that allow such violence to continue.
Big Bend
Hospice’s Children’s Program: The Caring Tree of Big
Bend Hospice provides grief support services for children and
teens. Its mission is to help young people face living with the
loss of a loved one through illness, accident, violence, or
suicide. Camp Woe-Be-Gone, Teen Woe-Be-Gone, school-based grief
support groups, as well as children and teen evening support groups
are among services provided.
ECHO:
Echo Outreach Ministries provide people in need with
food, shelter, clothing, financial assistance, and counseling.
Through the help of our ECHO contributions, free Sunday lunches are
served at First Presbyterian Church. In addition, ECHO has a
transitional housing ministry housed in the Bethany Family
Apartments.
Bear
Sunday: Trinity had identified several community
agencies to be recipients of hundreds of bears collected from the
congregation on "Bear Sunday" each February. The Tallahassee Police
Department was just one such recipient.
The
Shelter/Women’s Shelter: Open 7 days a week, this
downtown shelter provides a place to sleep and well-balanced meals
to the homeless. Trinity provides, prepares, and serves the food
for two Monday nights a month—fifth Monday night also. This
ministry is supported by congregational donations to the Good
Samaritan Fund.
Boys’ and
Girls’ Clubs of Tallahassee: Open weekday afternoons
from 3-7 p.m., the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs provide supervised study,
tutoring, a computer lab program, and an out-door sports program to
children in the Miccosukee community.
