Evening Book Group
On the fourth Thursday of each month, the Evening Book Group gathers at a home of a member to discuss that month’s selection. The group reads a variety of books from best sellers to old classics. While we most frequently read fiction, we also read memoirs and other non-fiction.
Friday Study Group
This group gathers weekly year round for in depth study and discussion. One of the goals of the group is for members to seek to understand different perspectives on important issues that relate to profound religious questions. We address topics relating to theological writings, scripture, spiritual practices, church and religious history, and current issues affecting Christianity today.
Often we use multiple resources to enhance our understanding of a subject; for example, a recent study included the book, What Christians Can Learn from Other Religions by J. Philip Wogaman with the video series Cultural Literacy for Religion, presented by Professor Mark Berkson. We also read and discuss Weavings: A Journal of the Christian Spiritual Life, published by Upper Room on a quarterly basis. We meet on Friday mornings 10:00 – 12:00 in Room 305 at Trinity. New participants are always welcome. For more information, contact Barbara Hynes.
Growing Spiritually Through Bible Study
The HEO (Helping Each Other) coordinator leads ongoing Bible study groups for members throughout the year. From September to May, the group meets in the Church Library on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. During the summer, the group meets in the home of a study group member. The classes usually run 8-12 weeks. For more information, contact Ruth Ann High.
Trinity’s Men’s Group: United Methodist Men
Men of Trinity are welcome to join this group to study, learn, and work together to become better husbands, fathers, and friends. They meet weekly on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in Room 306 during Lay Academy. New participants are always welcome. For more information, contact Bill Fritchman.
