A Wesleyan Heritage
As Christians with a distinctive Wesleyan heritage, we are to become disciples of Jesus Christ who provide a witness that transforms the world. Those that have laid this tradition made clear to us that discipleship is not passive, but comes from God’s grace revealed through intent and training. This includes curriculum and discussion that engages minds as part of small group meetings dedicated to conversion of the heart
Building on a Legacy
Christian small groups come in all shapes and sizes, formats, and structures, and even hopes and dreams. What they all share in common is people with a desire to greater understand God’s grace, through Jesus Christ, in their lives. There is much power for personal growth and social change that come from small group work. We already have many groups doing this wonderful ministry, as we further affirm their work and build on their legacy of care and rigor in education. In the coming academic year, a top priority is supporting these leaders in their small group ministry.
The Importance of Small Groups
Each of us run on God’s grace. Accepting God’s love, expressed perfectly in Jesus Christ, is what sustains and motivates us. Working together in small groups we can find a common voice to share it. We already do this so well at Trinity. To the leaders, facilitators, moderators, and conveners of our current groups we are deeply grateful, and we are proud of the work done by everyone who participates in small group ministries. If you are not part of a small group, please contact Dr. Quinton. He would love to help you get connected. His prayer for this academic year is that together we will grow as disciples of Jesus Christ, build on our Wesleyan tradition, and add to the legacy of Christian education at Trinity.
Looking Ahead
We are looking for conveners of class meetings, facilitators of small group Bible study, and leaders for at least two 34-week Disciple courses to join with those already committed to leadership in adult Christian education.
