Lay Academy: Implications for Individuals, Church, and Society in Major Crises

Lay Academy Zoom Series

Series Description: 
As we encounter major crises such as the coronavirus, what are the implications for us personally, for the church, and for society? We’ll hear from some of our elders who lived through the Depression and World War II, consider the role of the church in major disasters, discuss the future of health care in the U.S., and examine ways we might prepare for the next pandemic. Each week’s program will be based on short readings that will be distributed prior to the session.

Weekly Schedule: Wed.,  7 to 8 p.m., April 22 – May 13, 2020

April 22 – Listening to our Elders: Reminiscences of the Great Depression and World War II
Speakers: Dot Binger, Rubie Butterworth, Linda Yates, and Rod Dugger
