Local Missions

Thank you for your donations and tithes that help to support the following agencies through Trinity’s general operating budget:

1st beginnings @ Guardian ad Litem

This program provides support and a head start for 18 year old young men and women who can no longer receive state support. Household items of all types including clean, gently used furniture are collected to assist these young people with setting up their own apartments.

Allen Outreach

The Allen Outreach is a beacon of light in the Griffin Heights Community, providing clothes and food every 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Bear Sunday

Each year, Trinity identifies the community agencies that will be recipients of the hundreds of new bears donated by our congregation on “Bear Sunday” each February. This is a powerful ministry that touches the lives of many children.

Big Bend Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity builds Habitat houses in the Tallahassee Community. Trinity works in partnership with other area Methodist churches to build Habitat houses each year in this vital community ministry.

Brehon Family Services

Trinity volunteers crochet receiving blankets for new mothers to help Brehon’s mission, which is to improve the lives of children and their families by providing services that promote healthy babies and prevent child abuse and neglect.

Chelsea House

Chelsea House reaches out to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of women. A Christian home providing physical, emotional, and spiritual support for residents working through a progressive program to establish stability and eventual independent living, it is part of the Good Samaritan Network, a non-profit Christian charitable organization that helps individuals who face homelessness.

Community Christmas Dinner

Trinity has coordinated the Community Christmas Dinner for many years. Volunteers from Trinity and throughout the community come together to serve dinner. Trinity provides the food, favors, and entertainment for all people in our community who would like to celebrate the Christmas holiday with a caring group. It is held in Moor Hall on Christmas Day, beginning at 12:00 noon.

CROP Hunger Walk

CROP Hunger Walk is a national annual event coordinated by the Church World Services to help alleviate hunger locally and in undeveloped countries. Almost 2,000 cities and towns nationwide join together in interfaith community CROP Hunger Walks.

ECHO

Echo Outreach Ministries provide people in need with food, shelter, clothing, financial assistance, and counseling. Through the help of our ECHO contributions, free Sunday lunches are served at First Presbyterian Church. In addition, ECHO has a transitional housing ministry housed in the Bethany Family Apartments.

Elder Care Services

The mission of Elder Care Service, Inc. is to improve the quality of life for seniors. As well as providing services that improve the quality of life for seniors, they also actively advocate for seniors by working with others to fulfill unmet needs in the community.

The FSU/TCC FAMU Wesley Foundation

These United Methodist Campus Ministries offers campus-wide opportunities for worship, meals, pastoral care, prayer ministries, housing, study groups and many other programs and activities. Included are opportunities for discipleship, mission work and outreach.

Guardian ad Litem

The State of Florida Guardian ad Litem Program is a network of professional staff and community advocates, partnering to provide a strong voice in court and positive systemic change on behalf of Florida’s abused and neglected children.

Hope Community

The Hope Community, whose facilities are currently under construction, is a center designed to empower those who are homeless to become self-sufficient through a comprehensive array of services, including independent housing. The goal of the Community is to end homelessness, one person at a time.

Kate Sullivan Elementary School “Crocodilian” Project

Trinity has had a long and successful relationship with Kate Sullivan School. Trinity helps Kate Sullivan School by donating school supplies at the start of each school year. The congregation also helps Kate Sullivan through the reading mentoring program called Reading All-Stars. Call 222-1120 for more information.

The Kearney Center

At the Kearney Center (formerly The Shelter) – First, Fourth, and Fifth Monday of each month, we serve dinner from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at this 24-hour comprehensive emergency service center that provides temporary housing, meals, medical
assistance and counseling to homeless men and women.

Madison Youth Ranch

A United Methodist Children’s Home serving children who have been displaced. Donations of gift cards are appreciated so that the children may attend movies, skate, bowl or buy necessary items.

providenceProvidence Neighborhood

Volunteers participate in a variety of projects to help build a Trinity presence in this under-served neighborhood. Trinity has four volunteer events each year that range from trash pick-up Saturdays, to food distribution at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, to a Fun Day Celebration at the beginning of the school year at the Providence Neighborhood Center, and in any other capacity where we can help. Refuge House

Refuge House provides direct services to battered women, their children, and other assault survivors. Through outreach and educational program, this organization works to eliminate the conditions in society that allow such violence to continue.

Second Harvest of the Big Bend Backpacks Program

Once a month we pack food bags at Second Harvest to be distributed to school students so they will have
food over the weekend.

Wisdom’s Wellspring

Wisdom’s Wellspring is an ecumenical ministry supported by Tallahassee Heights United Methodist Church. Its mission is to develop leadership potential in young women with life circumstances that put them at high risk of dependency. Temporary transitional housing and food is provided as well as spiritual formation and life skills.
