Message from our Former Senior Pastor, Reverend Curry
For all who desire to worship, grow and serve…
In early 2015, a core of Trinity leaders prayed for God’s direction for our church. As a result, the Visioning Leadership Team (VLT) was formed. After much deliberation, consultant Christina Drouin, Center for Strategic Planning, was hired to guide our church through a strategic planning process. Twenty-six Trinity members of all ages and interests joined the team and embarked upon a process to determine the best ways for Trinity to worship our Lord and Savior, grow in faith and fellowship, and serve our church, community and the world over the next five years. Congregational participation became the top planning priority.
Over a nine-month period, Trinity congregants were engaged many times, in many ways. Survey data was collected from over 400 members to determine our church’s strengths, needs, threats and opportunities. On a Sunday afternoon in March, 140 members participated in the Core Values workshop. The result – discernment of our core values – Faith, Worship, Love, Service and Community. Those discerned values led to the creation of our mission statement: Because of God’s love for us through Jesus Christ, we exist to worship, grow and serve.
In May, 115 Trinity members devoted an entire Saturday to developing a Vision Statement. Goals and strategies were developed from that vision. In August, another 150 participants spent their Sunday afternoon together drafting over 200 initiatives, the specific plans to activate our mission, vision, goals and strategies. The 200 initiatives were vetted by a subgroup of the VLT, and winnowed down to 82 actionable ideas that are presented in two phases.
This manuscript includes the documented results of the entire Visioning process: Core Values, Mission, Vision, Goals, Strategies and Initiatives, all newly-crafted by our membership and approved by Church Council. This is a living document to be further developed and evolved over the next five years. With the completion and distribution of this road map, we prayerfully ask for God’s continued blessing and guidance. Much is expected and much will be required. We will move forward into Trinity’s future, remembering we serve as the hands and feet of our gracious Lord.
